Moral learning and the good life
Abstract
While many theories of moral education exist, much is less known about how this virtue of prudence is developed. Hence, the purpose of this paper is to present and analyze the process through which moral virtue develops. More specifically, it shows how individuals must behave in order to grow as a moral person and achieve the good life. Drawing from the Theory of Action by Pérez López, this paper proposes that any decision situated in an interpersonal context involves learning from the decision maker and others. When the other is taken into consideration in one´s decision through the exercise of rationality and willpower, moral virtue is developed. This model allows transversality and thereby the teaching of ethical competency through the case method.
