How to Channel Aggressiveness: A Proposal of Intervention Through Games and Sports

Abstract

Our experience as physical educationsport professionals leads us to observe the contradictory attitudes which the educational community holds regarding the topics of aggressiveness in games and sports. This article aims to contribute to the joint reflection about what aggressiveness is and how it is expressed in these bodily practices in the process of personal/social growth. In addition to laying out what we mean by aggressiveness and the meaning school children attribute to it, we present a proposal for intervention directed toward families who attend sports competitions, in the conviction that it is the responsibility of adults to build secure educational framework which enable the practice of educational school sports and thereby allow for the channeling of aggressiveness.
