Abstract

This paper provides some reasons that explain, in the view of the author, why the present eagerness of the Spanish Educational Authorities to reform all levels of education, from primary school to the universities, will not improve the quality of the Spanish educational system.

Author Biography

José Adolfo de Azcárraga is Professor Emeritus (theoretical physics) at Valencia University and a member of IFIC (CSIC-UV). He has frequently been Visiting Scholar at Cambridge and Oxford universities, and visited many other research centres in Europe and the US. He has been PI (1978-2013) of research projects and acted as evaluator for Spanish and international research agencies. He is editor and author of various scientific books and of some 180 research papers. He is a member of physics and mathematics societies (APS, EPS, IAMP), and has been President (2013-21) of the Spanish Royal Physics Society. He was a member of the Experts Committee for the Reform of the Spanish University System whose Report was issued in 2013, and is a member of the Free College of Emeritus.
